Welcome to 1st Grade!
Hello! Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year at Destiny Community School! We have an exciting and challenging year ahead of us! We are going to have a lot of fun this year, and learn a lot too! I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the year. To have success, we need to work together as a team.
For example, please go through your student’s folder each night; look at the day’s successes and any homework he/she might have. Any amount of time that you can sit down to read with your child is valuable not only for their learning, but also serves as a time for you to bond and share a love for reading, so please make time for that nightly also. Also make sure he/she gets a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast. The school day starts at 8:00 A.M., so please ensure your student is on time.
This is my fourth year teaching at Destiny, the second year teaching first grade, and my ninth year teaching at the elementary level. My family likes to read, travel, and spend time outside– basically we love to have fun and spend time together.
